A friend bought this to my attention and i just thought i would post about it and let you all have your say .
Now don't get me wrong My family just loved the Wiggles so much we went to most of the concerts and bought yes every single video i could find as soon as a new one hit the shelf i ran out the door to grab one lol.
Any way this was going around Face book etc... about Sam having to leave and Greg coming back to join the gang (Did i get that right) ? So you all heard Greg left cos he had some illness and decided to hang up his yellow skivvy and so they looked for a replacement and in came a man called Sam.
I never watched Sam so i can't really comment ~ But i have heard he was a little better then Greg?
OK so here is what my friend Kate had to say about the whole deal:
Right. I'm having a whinge and I'll start it here! I'm cranky with that ex yellow Wiggle Greg Page! He left cos he was sick. Fair enough. He cashed in his shares and started a luxury high end mansion building business. With the GFC went broke. And now wants back in. Bye Bye Sam. Poor form I say!!!
What happened to his illness that forced him out in the first place. Has he had a miraculous recovery??? I think the condition he had was called greed.
Here are just what some people had to say on the matter:
Greed is the condition that he has now, apathy was the condition that he had then.
Greed to make more money and capitalize on him fame to make it big in real estate. And then greed to jump back in the cash cow wagon that is the Wiggles.
Poor Sam after all his hard work to sack him like that. He didn't even have the chance to say goodbye to his fans.
They didn't even give Sam the chance to say goodbye and gave him a lousy $60,000 pay off...wtf??? I am glad that he refused to use a script management gave him on what to say and instead open a YouTube account and said his own goodbye....poor form indeed Wiggles.

OMG i can't believe anyone in your continent has any hard feelings against The Wiggles! I LOVE the wiggles and i love Greg! In fact, i want to be Mrs Wiggle, wearing black capris and a pink shirt. watch me shake it!
ReplyDeletepoor greg HAD to quit due to his debilitating illness. it put him in excrutiating pain to leave all his millions of children and mommy fans.
and understudy SAM? ick. yeah he's cute alright but. he's. not. Greg. i never watched one episode with the Other Yellow Shirt. He'll find work. Maybe in a reality show. do you have those down there?

God, I can't believe the uproar this whole thing has caused! Presumably, no matter what we hear, the Wiggles themselves and/or their management have sorted this out amongst themselves. One should assume that the course of action they have taken is one they are all satisfied with, including Sam. It's not our business how they run their business, or who they hire! They do a great job entertaining the kids; I'm pretty sure the mums care about this far more than the kids do. Let it be!

It was reported that they earnt $28 million last year. Sam walked out with 60k. Sounds fair right!!
ReplyDeleteMy little 2 arent big on the wiggles, they will listen for a bit then wander off. My older 3 were wiggles mad though.
What I am wondering is why there cant be 5 wiggles? Seriously imagine how much money they would make off the brand new merchandise, episodes,music etc.
One of the other wiggles was quoted saying Sam wouldnt read scripts properly. Fair enough you no longer want him...pay a substantial amount to kick him out then!!
That channel 9 interview on the link you provided is totally awkward they are totally hiding something. Poor Sam I say, I dont think Greg has returned for positive reasons.

ReplyDeleteIt's been so interesting to watch unfold. They really underestimated the reaction from fans and the media. I think the questions the media have asked are fair. The biggest problem has been how unprepared they were.
Like I said elsewhere, I'm OK with Greg returning but I'm NOT OK with bad PR! Reputation reputation reputation!
