A few days ago when i read Dorothy's post from Singular Insanity about the long and the short of me i actually got a little sad ,pissed off cos lots of memories came flooding back of my childhood . Some where happy some where a complete nightmare . So now on to this topic of short hair!
Well guess what sister i had the same problem as you with always having short hair and more often then others was mistaken for a cute little boy Grrr from ages 12 mths - 13 yrs of age.
My parents loved making me have short hair . Um not to mention dressing in boys clothes most of the time ~ I think i owned only 2 dresses back then}
I always wanted long hair even my dance teacher asked them to let me grow my hair long ,but NO! My mum said well for one with short hair you won't have to worry about lice! I use to put her stockings or a jumper on my head and just look in the mirror pretending the long stockings or jumper sleeves where my long hair *sigh*
Now days i am still trying to grow my hair long cos i like long hair and always usually tie it up in summer otherwise i probably would grab scissors and give myself a chop hair due! Eek!!!!
I only have a few pictures of myself apart from now days as my hair is shoulder length it takes nearly 1 year to get my hair long .~My daughter Chloe her hair grows so long within 5 months pure amazing . So apart from getting my split ends chopped every 8-9 weeks i vow to grow this mother F*ucker hair of mine the way i always wanted and that's long!!!!
All the pictures of me with horrid short hair are down at my parents and they can stay there too!
This is my all time favourite picture of me with shoulder length hair at the Gold Coast and 6 months preggies too. Not sure why i was just infatuated with this blasted car LOL.....
OMG! Check those yummy flower purple pants out will you?!

DID YOU HAVE LONG OR SHORT HAIR WHEN YOU WHERE A CHILD GROWING UP?

I am completely with you!!! I had short hair for majority of my childhood and HATED it! Having dry frizzy hair to boot, was not a nice look.
ReplyDeleteThese days long it is, and long it will stay! I've made a point of my girls having nice long hair too. I never want them to go through the whole 'boy' thing like I did!

As a young child I had long hair, my father was worried about people thinking I was a boy (it even meant he named me something other than what they wanted to 'Jolene' incase I got called 'Jo' (a boys name). I had short hair a few times when I was older though felt it was more maintenance. At school I do have to ask other teachers if a child is a boy or a girl when they have short hair as some little boys really are pretty so it is hard to tell. At least you can keep your hair how you like now.
ReplyDeleteam the opposite my mum forced me to grow my hair when I was young so once I was 18 first thing I did is went to a salon and chooped that bitche tail I had lol now 6 years later its still chooped but am thinking about maybe I will let it grow again but never grow it like my mom used to just a lil bit of it
