Special Guest Post today is Caitlyn Nicholas! .........

Today i am having the awesome Guru Caitlyn Nicholas it took me a while to pluck up the courage to really ask her some questions so here is how it went .......

Tell me about you/family etc?

I am 40.  I turned 40 on New Years Day (which sounds like an awesome birthday, but really, everyone is hung-over and don’t want to eat any cake or even speak, or – if they are your mother – tell you they already gave you your present a week ago, “didn’t you realise it was combined with your Christmas one.”)

I’m also a romance author, mummy blogger, short, blonde, and live in the northern suburbs of Sydney.
With me lives my poor husband (who is forced to proofread all my novels, repeatedly), my wonderful daughters (who put up with me being permanently glued to the lappie),  Sebby the gold plated spaniel (he likes to eat bees (throat swells shut), chocolate (poisonous), and sticks (wedge in his throat and choke him) The vet loves us).  We also have a magical black cat, called Pepper, she is 18 and still catching mice, and four chooks who are bickery and squabbly and produce wonderful eggs.

What are your hobbies ?

I love hobbies. I’m always into something.  There are just so many interesting things to do, and so little time.
My present obsession is embroidery, and I’m very active in the NSW Embroiderer’s Guild. Though I took the kids to Irish Dancing last night (River Dance kind of stuff) and was nearly up there with them having a try myself, it looked like so much fun. Maybe that’s going to be my next hobby??? Most of my time, however, is spent failing badly at being a domestic Goddess and writing. Either blogging or fiction.

What/How did you come about blog/book

My blog started years ago, mainly as a way to keep up with family and friends who are scattered across the globe.  It morphed into a Mummy blog and as the kids have got older, morphed back into a writing / blogging-about-life blog.

The novel writing came about in an entirely different way… I am a horrible pregnant person. I throw up. All. The. Time.  This makes me a very sad Panda.  One day, when I was up duff with Daughter 2, knackered, white-faced, foul tempered and rather vommy, my exasperated husband firmly informed me that I should go and sit down before I fell down.

I said something about that being boring and what was I going to do sitting down… etc.
So he suggested that I write a book, gave me the laptop and left me to it.
Six months later (a few weeks before my daughter was born) I sold the manuscript to Samhain Publishing and it was published a year later.

Give me an insight to what makes a good engaging ebook?

A good ebook has to be readable – it has to be easy to read, good grammar, simple English, no spelling mistakes, easy to read font and layout.
And it has to be relatable – it needs to be about something that interests the reader. You need to ‘know your audience.’  Figure out who you are writing for and give them what they want.  That applies for fiction and non-fiction.

Thank you for having me J

Drive Me To Distraction is my third full-length novel, and is available from 1 November 2012 in e-book format.

Sometimes life or death decisions are easy. Alex Radford has a choice – borrow the money to treat her mother’s rare and aggressive cancer from sleazy moneylender Hamish MacCameron. Or do nothing and watch her die.

MacCameron has an agenda. He wants Alex in his bed, and he wants her to help him exact revenge on his sworn enemy, Robert Dryden. He is only too happy to lend her what she needs, but the strings attached form a tangled web from which Alex has little hope of escape.

It’s not all bad. Since she was a girl Alex has had one dream: to become a Formula 1 driver and show the boys how to drive a race car. MacCameron’s money gives her a shot at fame, and in a move that scandalizes the F1 racing fraternity she becomes the new driver for Rob Dryden’s struggling F1 team, Prometheus.

Alex tries to keep her distance from Rob, knowing that one day she will need to betray one of the few people who ever had faith in her. But things begin to unravel when Hamish MacCameron is murdered and she and Rob are the top suspects on the list …

I also have a Geek Girl saves the world novella, Dark Moon Rising, available in late December 2012 (check my website / blog for the details about that one – I don’t have them yet!)
